Rep Loudermilk talks about it - his actions and voting record tell a different story

Marietta, GA - Indivisible Cobb is joining forces with other north Georgia progressive groups this Saturday, December 13, to let Representative Barry Loudermilk know we aren’t buying his “defending the Constitution” tagline. Organizations which will be participating in this rally alongside Indivisible Cobb include Indivisible groups from Woodstock CAN, Cherokee County, as well as 50501 Georgia and Cobb DSA.

Rep. Loudermilk is scheduled to speak on “Restoring The Constitution” on Saturday at a Cobb GOP function in Marietta. However, examining his public statements and his votes in Congress relating to the Trump administration’s efforts to consolidate power within the Executive branch, negate the constitutional system of checks and balances and undermining congressional oversight, tells a very different story.

“Loudermilk has defended attempts to put the executive branch above accountability, excused the attacks on the peaceful transfer of power and backed limits on voting access that reduce the ability of Georgians to participate in their own democracy,” said Stacey Parlotto, a leader of Indivisible Cobb. “He talks like a constitutional guardian while helping advance an agenda that concentrates power and restricts rights.”

“We’ll be rallying with many other pro-democracy groups at the site of his talk to let him and others know that campaign slogans about ‘Restoring The Constitution’ coming from the Congressman are the exact opposite of what he is actually supporting,” added Parlotto.
